}<Shark})> Week... is an annual at least week long TV programming block created by Tom Golden; at the Discovery Channel. Shark Week... originally premiered on July 17th 1988. In 1994, Peter Benchley, the author of the beloved best selling novel (JAWS); while celebrating its 20th anniversary, became the 1st host ever of... Shark Week! Featured annually, in July or August, it was originally devoted to conservation efforts and correcting misconceptions about sharks. Over time, Shark Week grew in popularity and became a hit on the Discovery Channel. Since 2010, it has been the longest running cable television programming event in history! Shark Week is broadcast in over 72 countries. It is also promoted heavily through many sources of social media. In 2001, Shark Week premiered... "(Air Jaws)... Sharks of South Africa." The Program captured the first-ever footage of great white sharks breaching out of the water; in some instances... propelling their massive bodies as much as 15 feet into the air... in order to take seals as prey. New photography featuring the phenomenon has been a part of Shark Week... ever since. Then in 2014, Sean Lesniak... a then 9 year old Shark Week fanatic from Massachusetts; was so moved by a special on the declining population of sharks, that he wrote to his local Representative, David M. Nangle. In the letter, young Sean Lesniak asked Mr. Nangle to help him put an end to (shark finning). Representative, David M. Nangle agreed with the boy's stand... and pushed a bill forward to ban the trade of (shark fins) in Massachusetts. On July 24th, 2014, then Governor Deval Patrick, signed the bill into law. A great example of one David... making a difference! Yet another outstanding outcome of Shark Week! But this Post is about the greatest great white shark... And No! It ain't Big Blue! This greatest... great white, makes Big Blue look like a Tuna! The Most Unique Mystique that ever came from Shark Week! Yes! }}<SUBMARINE}}}{}>

Green-tings Green-Lings and Green-Wings! OK; admittedly, this is a very strange one. The so called live footage of the greatest great white shark; The legendary greatest.. of all great white sharks historically known as... }}<SUBMARINE}}}{}> shown on YouTube, was not immediately but only sometime later declared to be a hoax! Was it really? This green prophet, is not so sure. Why? Hahaha! Not so fast! First, allow this green prophet to make his case. Then he will present... his closing argument.

Until then, we will look at a lot of other XXX-Large examples. The facts are... world records are inched up, broken and yes... even shattered worldwide all of the time! There was a time when the idea of a 20 plus foot long man-killer-shark would have been crazy! Then came JAWS... and the idea became science fiction! Then came Shark Week; and what began as science fiction... became science fact!

Fellow Green-Lings and Green-Wings; what would you say about a fish 110 feet long... which is longer than a blue whale... and weighing only 600 pounds! Hahaha! Later...???

The Ocean Sunfish...

Here is one fish that deserves the title giant... but doesn't get one. Why? The typical run-of-the-mill ocean sunfish can weigh over 2,000 pounds! That's why! But the largest ocean sunfish ever caught was well... bigger! It was in fact a gargantuan 5,100 pounds! More than twice the size as was previously supposed they could be! Hmmm? We will come back to that one! These fish are among the heaviest bony fish in the world!

The Japanese Spider Crab...

Yet another species that deserves the title of giant. For all seafood lovers out there in Japan, expect a very high restaurant bill and tummy ache when you order some Japanese Spider Crab legs! This crab is a delicacy! This super sized Japanese Crab has a leg span of up to 4 feet and can weigh over 40 pounds!

Ralph the Rabbit...

We see rabbits as oh so cute on TV, but this is a whole different animal; and one Big Bunny!. "Ralph" is the (Kong) of rabbits! Yes, Ralph is believed to be the largest rabbit on the planet! Ralph tips the scale at a very impressive 50 pounds! He is also larger than many dogs! But it is reported he is a total sweetheart. However, Ralph does eat more than $60 dollars worth of food every week! $$$

A Horse Named Moose...

Although horses are known to be tall, this Percheron Stallion world Champion... makes his peers look like ponies! Hahaha! Moose is a draft horse. At the shoulders, he measures up at a gigantic 6.5 feet and weighs over 2,000 pounds!

Nomura's Jellyfish...

If you want to feel small... try swimming alongside the Nomura's Jellyfish. They dwell in the waters between China and Japan. With a diameter of 6.6 feet, this jellyfish is considered the largest in the sea. Records say that the largest Nomura's Jellyfish weighed a whopping 440 pounds! Wow! There is a lot jammed into that jelly! Hahaha! Of course; it must be... preserved!

Giant Squid...

Dubbed as the real live leviathans of the oceans, the Giant Squid, has been the basis of tales told by supposed mad-man mariners for millennia! Because of their size they have been mistaken for something else. After obtaining specimens, it was found that they have grown to 44 feet long! Oddly enough, images of the giant squid in its natural habitat only surfaced in 2004.

The Cinereous Vulture...

According to experts, the Cinereous Vulture can weigh over 30 pounds and have a wing span of 10 feet! To put this into perspective all of you can better grasp, that means that from the tip of one wing to the tip of the other, would be the same as from the floor to the rim of a basketball hoop! Thanks to their larger than life composition, they were given the title... The largest bird of prey in the world!

Largest Gorilla was a Silver-back...

The tallest gorilla recorded was 1.95 meters tall with an arm span 2.7 meters wide; which would be from paw tip to paw tip and 1.98 meters chest width. This silver-back gorilla tipped the scales at 219 kilograms; that is nearly 483 pounds!. It is so sad that it was shot in 1938, near Lake Kivu. The heaviest gorilla ever recorded... weighed 263 kilograms or not quite 580 pounds!

Worlds Largest Giraffe...

His name is Forest; he is a 12 year old giraffe that lives at the Australia Zoo in Queensland. Forest has been confirmed as the worlds tallest giraffe today... and stands 5.7 meters or 18 feet 8 inches tall. Just measuring Forest was a tall order! Hahaha! As his keeper, Kat Hansen revealed; "It took us a number of months to be able to do it." This is what she told ABC News... August 3rd, 2020. The tallest giraffe ever recorded was named George. He stood 19 feet tall at age nine.

The Blue Whale...

Despite all of these XXX-Large animals on the list, of course, this one tops them all. Being the biggest creature ever to have exited... and thanks to preservation efforts worldwide... still swimming; the mighty blue whale can reach a length of 98 feet and can weigh up to 190 tons!

Hogzilla...

The Monster Hog dubbed Hogzilla... was the center of a questionable 2007 hunting tale in which an 11 year-old Alabama boy shot and killed this horrific wild hog! The hunters claimed 9 feet 4 inches long and weighed 1,051 pounds! It was later reported to be that the monstrous wild hog was actually just a extra large domestic pig named "Fred". It was further reported that Fred was purchased by the Lost Creek Plantation Hunting Preserve, for publicity. However, there have been wild hogs hunted and killed weighing in at more than a 1,000 pounds.

The Goliath Birdeater "Spider"...

The world's largest spider by mass... is the Goliath Birdeater... and it pretty much looks as terrifying as it sounds! Its body length can be more than a frightening 5 inches long and it can weigh... more than half a can of Campbell's soup... which would be more than 6 ounces! This species of spider lives in northern South America, but despite its name, according to this article, they rarely consume birds. However in controversy, according to a Animal Planet presentation this prophet personally saw many years ago... the local farmers in the jungles there believe that these spiders are the prime suspects for the loss of many of their adolescent chickens! Other than the alleged chickens... the Goliath Birdeaters diet includes mostly large arthropods, worms, and amphibians. These spiders have mostly been sighted in the Amazon rain-forest and they live in deep burrows in swampy areas.

The Giant Oceanic Manta Ray...

The Giant Oceanic Manta Ray... is the largest species of all the rays in all the world. They can be found in the tropical and sub-tropical waters. The Massive Mantas can reach an astounding 23 feet across... and weigh in at 6,600 pounds! As you can imagine, these creatures immense size preclude them from being held in captivity. Although this is true, a few aquariums have managed to do so successfully. Unfortunately, while these magnificent mantas do not have many natural predators due to their size; over-fishing and the dreaded and indiscriminate fisherman's nets, do accidentally kill many mantas. So then these giant oceanic manta rays are still considered endangered.

The Maine Coon Cat...

OK fellow Green-Lings and Green-Wings; This green prophet actually has some experience with this one. It is said that cats choose you; well although this prophet had heard that before... he did not believe it until he got chosen! As a young man in his mid 20's this prophet was strictly a dog person. But Tabby, to some degree... changed him. This prophet has pretty much always hated gyms and liked to workout completely alone. So instead of a gym in those days, he would drive to a nearby middle-school after hours at night... and do his routine workout. Yes; back in the day; with this prophets strength to weight ratio... he would have made a pretty good American Ninja Warrior! How good? Well... he would not have won the grand prize... but he would have hit buzzers! Hahaha! During one of his nightly routine workouts... he could not shake the feeling that he was being watched! So he repeatedly scanned the terrain at eye level of course, looking for who ever else was there, and saw no one. He had just finished his last set of what he called wide grip crucifixion pull-ups. Then he saw what... had been so curious about him. It was a skinny little cat... just sitting in the shadows at the corner of a maintenance shed. He quietly spoke to the cat and approached it. Amazingly enough; she did not run away! She did not even move! She just sat there and waited! When she was right at his feet... he bent down to pet her and she let him! Then he left and... she followed him! When he got to the car... he turned and (No joke) said; to the skinny little cat; "OK little cat, you are kind of cute, but I am too tired to chase after you. So here is the deal. (If) when I open the car door... you hop in and sit on the passenger's side... you've got a home." (No joke); when the car door opened, the skinny little cat looked at this prophet once... gave out this cute little purr-meow combination as if speaking; hopped into the car and sat in the passenger's seat! "Wow! What an intuitive little cat you are!" Then this prophet drove to the nearest still open grocery store; bought 25 dollars worth of cat junk; took her home; and named her Tabby. When he saw her more clearly in the lights of his apartment; Wow! She was gorgeous! She lived with him for some 17 years. Now this prophet could write a kids book about this incredible cat that ended up, not so little. Maybe some day... he will. At some point Tabby, who was never fat; weighed in at 18 pounds and could stretch out enough to turn a lever type doorknob... with her paw! Her daughter Cutie; when full grown was a little longer, and weighed in at 22 pounds! The world's record Maine Coon; lives in Vigevano, Italy; is named Barivel; At the time of the original article on (definition.org). Barivel was 3 feet 11 inches long! Wow! You really should see his photo!

The Flying Fox...

Despite their name and their cuteness for their species... Flying Foxes are not actually foxes! What they are is the worlds largest genus of mega-bat! They can grow to have a wingspan of nearly 5 feet and weigh up to 2 and a half pounds! They eat mostly fruits, flower nectar and some insects. Most are nocturnal, but they do not rely on echolocation; instead, they rely on their keen eyesight and nose.

The Coconut Crab...

It is entirely possible that you folks have never seen anything that could be much scarier... than a coconut crab! It looks like kind of a cross between a hermit crab and a spider... only XXX-Large! In the original article found at definition.org there is a photo of one of these coconut crabs literally covering the entire side of an old style outdoor trash-can! The coconut crab is the world's largest land-dwelling arthropod... and can grow to be more than 3 feet long and weigh as much as 10 pounds! Oh and the really maybe scary reason it is called a coconut crab is that by using its claws, in some days, it can actually open one! These crabs can climb trees and occasionally do consume animal flesh; if it is available to them.

Asian Giant Hornets...

The Asian giant hornet, also known as the murder hornet, is the worst nightmare of anyone with an allergy to bee stings! These not so little terrors have an average body length of almost 2 inches; a wingspan of 3 inches and a one quarter inch long stinger! While when unprompted, Asian giant hornets tend not to seek to attack humans, when they do decide to sting they have the ability to spray their venom into a persons eyes when they feel threatened enough. One Japanese entomologist described being stung by an Asian giant hornet as "feeling like a red hot nail being driven into my leg" Y-Y-Yeow-ch! The sad truth is that according to the New York Times... they kill as many as 50 people a year! Scarier yet; just like in the original Gremlin's Movie... they're heee-re! Yes the Asian giant hornet is one of the invasive species that is now making its home in some of the southern states of the USA! Unlike honey bees a single Asian giant hornet is said to be able to sting a target up to 30 times!

The Goliath Frog...

As the name would suggest, the Goliath frog is the largest species of frog in the world. they can get up to 13 inches in length and weigh more than 7 pounds! They only live near waterfalls and rapids, so their habitat ranges only from Equatorial Guinea to Cameroon. They can live up to 15 years wild or 21 years in captivity.

Romulus the Donkey...

The average domesticated donkey is between 36 and 48 inches tall, from hoof to shoulder. However Romulus stands 68 inches tall measured the same way. This makes Romulus... the Guinness World record holder for the tallest living donkey! His brother Remus, stands just 2 inches shorter.

The Leatherback Sea Turtle...

The leatherback sea turtle, is the largest type of turtle, but it differs from other modern sea turtles in that it does not have a bony shell to protect itself. They only spend about 0.1 percent of the day resting, and can grow to be an impressive 6 to 7 feet long and weigh 1,550 pounds!

The Whale Shark...

Despite its name, the bashful behemoth known as the whale shark is neither a whale nor a shark. It is in fact... the largest type of fish in the world. While not nearly as big as the blue whale, the whale shark still gives most other ocean creatures a run for their money when it comes to size. It is not known exactly how big these giant fish can get, but several have been reported to be nearly 60 feet in length!

The Oarfish...

The Oarfish... looks every bit as weird as it sounds. The sighting of one of these is so rare... the spell check program had never heard of it! Hahaha! Oh... and this is the ??? ocean dwelling creature, hinted about at the opening of this Post. Although it is absolutely harmless; it looks anything but! It actually looks like a friendly sea serpent; like you see in kid's books! Regardless as to their possible immense size... which once again can get to be 110 feet long and weigh only 600 pounds! Talk about a long and lean fish! Hahaha! Like so many immense creatures that live in the ocean; Oarfish feast on krill and little fish. Lastly...

Brutus; The Salt Water Crocodile...

What a Croc! Hahaha! Just had to say it! Brutus is one big salty! But Brutus is not nearly the biggest and not even close to the most notorious! That title hands down belongs to Gustave! Serial-killing man-eater from Burundi! Gustave is rumored to have killed a terrifying total of as many as 300 people!! They were all taken from the banks of the Ruzizi River and the shores of Lake Tanganyika. In 2002... Gustave, was more than 18 feet long and with his impressive girth... weighed then more than a ton! Still he is not the biggest. There was another huge crocodile captured in the Philippines in September 2011. Animal Planet did a whole show on this beast... just like they did on Gustave. This beast was 21 feet... and weighed 2,000 plus pounds! But even this Croc... is alleged not to be the Grand Daddy! No! That Croc is a legend! That Croc... has only been seen from time to time! That Croc... is also from the Philippines and that Croc... is reported and or rumored to be... over 29 feet long!! Actually, that was about 6 years ago... who knows now!!

OK fellow Green-Lings and Green-Wings; What this green prophet believes could be happening... is that Nat Geo and the Discovery Channel could be trying to Un-Ring a Bell! Let us just say for the sake of argument that the myth-like }}<SUBMARINE}}}{}> was and is real.

If so; he or she is only one wickedly smart shark in the vast oceans! Coming across him or her and filming was a once in a lifetime fluke! It is not an occurrence that is very likely to ever happen again! It would pretty much be a similar situation as was capturing the great white shark face off with killer whale on film! That had never been seen before! Right? People could hardly believe the outcome of such an encounter! But believe it or not, this green prophet knew it would be... No Contest! How? He used to live just down the road from Sea World San Diego! He would buy an annual pass every year! Just from his observations of Shamu and company, he believed that for an Orca it would pretty much be a routine kill.

Wasn't it the killer whale that taught man; how to handle really big sharks? The phenomenon dubbed by the researchers and scientists as... Tonic Immobility was actually discovered in 1646. It is a reflex that causes a temporary state of inactivity in an animal. Somewhat similar to hypnosis; it occurs in a variety of different species, including many sharks and rays. This trance-like state in these animals can occur naturally. So then fellow Green-Lings and Green-Wings; is a situation of capturing on film, Jaws vs Free Willy likely to ever happen again? No? Well then; the same would be true of... }}<SUBMARINE}}}{}> .

It has been stated that scientists really do not know how long sharks live. When the greatest... great white shark was alleged to have been seen 30 and back as far as 44 years ago he or she was already Big! Of course wouldn't it stand to reason he would be much Bigger now? We have also learned from Shark Week, that sharks are intelligent... they learn... and they remember. Wouldn't it then additionally stand to reason that a shark that had lived that long and gotten that big would also have become much smarter? From the accounts of sightings we also know that this particular great... great white shark has a one of a kind easily identifiable scar over one of his or her eyes.

Now; before all of the great white hype regarding the one and only... }}<SUBMARINE}}}{}> the eye witness accounts many years apart of the individuals who did not know each other, identified the one and only Monster shark the same way... by the scar over his or her eye... indicating that the sightings of the shark many years apart... were of the same Monster shark! This further suggests a great... great white shark with way above average intelligence! That is what it takes not only to survive that long... But also to thrive that long.

Conclusion... or Closing Argument:

So then fellow Green-Lings and Green-Wings; Remember, we started with the presumption that the greatest... great white shark that has been legendarily recognized as the one and only... }}<SUBMARINE}}}{}> does exist. What then? Well, both Nat Geo and the Discovery Channel may have a problem! How do you get people excited about 18 foot great whites... when they know... there is one shark out there somewhere, at least twice that size? Remember the should be... giant (Ocean Sunfish)? They would of course, want more of the Monster! They would want more of the one and only greatest... great white shark they may in truth... nnnnever see again! Maybe like the 2020 election... it might be better to convince the people that they really did not see what they saw and or that what they saw... was not real!! Back to Shark Week. If that is believed to be true... then the people can maybe get excited about seeing the 18 footers again! Maybe Nat Geo and The Discovery Channel decided... It would be better to take a Hit... to stay a Hit!

}}<SUBMARINE}}}{}>... Is he or she real? That is for you folks to decide for yourselves. But you should not ever allow yourselves to be led to believe what others want to lead you to believe without evidence! You have now been given some intelligent arguments to work with. Hey, if they really want you to believe it was all a hoax, that could be easily accomplished! Just present the behind the scenes footage of the original hoax! Produce the production! Also produce the people presumed to have been eaten by the shark! Also all of the out-takes! The Bloopers! Or... was truth really stranger than fiction. ; -)

Update: Shark Week July 29, 2022... 3AM Central-time: The Discovery Channel ran a program first aired in 2015. The title of the program was... "Super Predator"! The gist of the program was an investigation of what happened to a 9 foot female great white shark designated as "Shark Alpha" a tagged shark that... as was being tracked very suddenly disappeared! The tracer data from Shark Alpha recorded the speed of the immediate temperature change of Shark Alpha's body from 46 degrees to 78 degrees! This caused the scientist trackers to believe that their 9 foot shark had been swallowed whole by some kind of... Super Predator! Later, at a different location... a small pod of Sperm Whales was found beached and dead. Upon close investigation... single bites were found on the bodies of some of the whales. The bite marks indicated a Great White bite! The radius of a single bite found near the tail of one of the whales that was not too decomposed to identify, seemed to be only a partial bite and was still 5 feet across! This indicated to the scientist researchers that the Super Predator responsible... would have to be between 35 and 40 feet long! This also was determined to be the same estimated size of what frightened, chased, caught up to, and apparently swallowed whole... Shark Alpha! Now then, in addition fellow Green-Lings and Green-Wings; it may or may not come as any surprise to any of you... that this is the very same approximate size of the one and only truly...
